Full Financial Support

The Crimson Summer Academy offers an outstanding educational opportunity to students who show high academic potential but have not had access to all of the resources necessary for academic success. Public and parochial school students who currently attend ninth grade in Boston or Cambridge; have been nominated by a principal, teacher, or guidance counselor familiar with their academic and personal potential; and who come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds are invited to apply to Session I.

Successful applicants receive full financial support, as well as a stipend of $200 per week during the Academy’s summer sessions. Crimson Scholars who successfully complete the three-year program are awarded a $3,000 scholarship for use at the college or university of their choice.

The Crimson Summer Academy is funded by the President's Office at Harvard University.

The Next Step, which supports CSA graduates during their first two years of college, is funded with assistance from the Goldman-Sachs Foundation, sponsors of "Access Program: Creating Opportunities for Talent." The Foundation's mission is to promote excellence and innovation in education and to improve the academic performance and lifelong productivity of young people worldwide.
